The Commission is head quartered at Srinagar from May to October and at Jammu from November to April. The commission’s website address is www.jkpsc.nic.in.
The Commission is headed by the Chairman who is appointed by the Governor and holds his office for 5 years or till he attains 65 years of the age and the same applies to other members of the Commission. The Commission is responsible for selection of competent candidates for taking up the helm of affairs in the civil services and other posts.
The Commission notifies the recruitment of various personnel for different posts in their website. It is responsible for recruitment of candidates for Civil Services and for the posts of Professors, Assistant Professors, Medical officers, Medical Record Officers, Lecturers etc. and this may accessed by visiting the following website address: www.jkpsc.nic.in/notification.html. The results of the examination are also posted in the website regularly.
The following main competitive examinations are overseen by JKPSC:
J&K Combined Services Competitive Examination also referred as KAS, KCS (Judicial), Range Officers, Assistant Director (Statistics) Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF)
J&K Combined Services :
J&K Combined Competitive examination is held for direct recruitment into a) J&K Administrative Service b) J&K Police – Gazetted Service and c) J&K Accounts – Gazetted Service.
• The Age of the Candidate should be between the age of 21 years and 35 years.
• Upper Age is relaxable by 2 yrs in case candidates of SC/ST/Socially and economically backward castes.
• For Physically Challenged : Upper age limit is 38 years irrespective of Caste
Educational Qualification: Candidate must possess a Degree from recognized university in India.
For J&K Police (Gazetted Services), the following additional physical standards are required:
• a) Male : Height – 165 cms Chest – 84cm Expansion – 5 cms
• b) Female : Height – 150 cms Chest – 79cm Expansion – 5 cms
Selection Process: There is 3 stage selection Process:
1) Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examination
It is of Objective Type and candidates who are successful in this examination are eligible to appear for Combined Competitive (Main Examination). The marks obtained in the Preliminary examination is taken into account only for the selection of candidates to Main Examination. Preliminary examination consists of 2 papers –
Paper I-General Studies for 150 marks and Paper II-Optional subject-300 marks
The subjects from Appendix – A may be chosen as the Optional subject.
2) Combined Competitive (Main) Examination
The Main Examination has a written test of descriptive type followed by Interview. The Written exam has 4 papers.
Paper I – General English – 300 marks
Paper II – English Essay – 150 marks
Paper III & IV – General Studies – 300 (each paper)
Paper V, VI, VII & VIII – Any 2 optional subjects
250 marks are allotted for the Interview.

Agriculture, Botany, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Commerce, Electrical Engineering, Economics, Geology, Geography, History, Law, Mathematics, Public Administration, Sociology, Mechanical Engineering, Statistics.
In Paper V, VI, VII, VIII, the candidate is tested in each of the above subject in detail and he should possess in depth knowledge of the same.

JKPSC Recruitment for Lecturer Post
The Candidates should be between 18 to 40 yrs of age. They should possess Master degree in the concerned subject. The Application fee is Rs. 805 for General Candidates and Rs. 405/- for reserved categories.
