HSSC known as Haryana Staff Selection Commission was constituted in the year 1970 as per the Government notification dated 28th Jan 1970. The role of the commission is to appoint candidates by the State Department for Group B & D by conducting interviews and examinations. The commission consists of seven member panel including the Chairman appointed by the Haryana Government. The incumbent Chairman is Shri Bharath Bhushan Bharthi. The HSSC has its office located in Panchkula, Haryana.
To select candidates, the commission decides the interview rounds based on the role for which they advertise. Once this schedule is ready, this is further advertised in four newspapers i.e., two in English and two in Hindi. The advertisement consists of number of posts category wise, Qualification needed, Pay scale, reservation details and documents required. Since the year 2006, HSSC has advertised close to 50000 such posts.
Candidates who wish to apply for different roles must ensure that they have the prescribed skills before applying. One should bear in mind that if you are someone who belong to general or reserved category, then you are eligible to submit only one application for a particular category of post. One should start preparing well in advance as the competition for such exams will be intense. The first round is usually the written exam followed by an interview round. You could either be shortlisted after securing the cut-off marks/percentage in written exam or may be subject to a direct interview call. This would depend on the commission as to how they intend to select candidates for that particular role.
It is highly recommended that if you intend to apply for any of these exams, you should go through their user friendly website. This has more or less covered all aspects that a candidate should know if you are looking to get a job in Haryana Government. The E-Citizen corner in the website is an added feature.
There are host of websites that can help you prepare for these exams. It is important that you spend some quality time to find help online in getting access to old question papers. For example a link like this can get you access to these old question papers. It is important that you set time for yourself to take these mock exams. This will help you in properly manage your time while attempting the exam paper.
Adding to the direct recruits, there is always the departmental promotions that one can look for. If you believe that you are better qualified for that role, you can keep an eye out for such promotions and opportunities. As you will always have people moving departments, it provides you with an opportunity to make you dream come true. However, this would again require lot of effort in terms of understanding the exact criteria and prepare accordingly.
Finally, HSSC on its part is helping many of us with an opportunity to get into Government sector. We need to prepare ourselves well before the opportunity presents.
